How to Prepare for Thanksgiving When Too Busy to Cook

October 02, 20233 min read

I’m getting ready to move, so I really don’t have a lot of time to prepare for Thanksgiving. While so many of you will be eating lots of yummy food and watching football, I’ll be packing. As I got to thinking about what to do about not being able to enjoy the annual “food fest,” I realized I wasn’t the only one. So, I thought I share a few places to order Thanksgiving Dinner and pick up.

Catering By Design is offering mix and match Thanksgiving meals so you can order what you like. You get to choose your meat, side and dessert. And how much of each one. Start off with some appetizers, like cranberry salsa, Bite Me! snack mix, buffalo chicken dip, spinach and artichoke dip, fresh corn tortilla chips and pita chips. Meat choices are turkey or ham, and sides include mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, classic herb stuffing, maple whipped sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, yeast dinner rolls, asparagus with citrus butter, wild rice and butternut squash soup. Pumpkin, French silk with sea salt and caramel, and double caramel drizzled apple pie are the desert choices. You can buy a whole pie or two-slice increments. Order online by Friday, November 19th.

Cameo Restaurant is offering the ultimate gourmet Thanksgiving meal for four to six people for $200. For those of you who like fancy food, this sounds great. Two pounds each of herb roasted turkey sliced and compart farms ham with citrus and molasses; kale & apple salad; apple, cranberry & sausage stuffing; creamy mashed potatoes with gravy; green beans with crispy onions, dill and pancetta; maple roasted delicata squash parker rolls with cinnamon & honey whipped butter; and for dessert chocolate chip cookies brioche bread pudding with maple caramel. More items can be added for an additional fee, including quinoa stuffed acorn squash, roasted beets with citrus serves, Brussels sprouts with pancetta and garlic, sweet potato casserole or cheesy cabbage gratin. Order by Sunday, November 21 online. It can be picked up at either Cameo Restaurant or Café Relish.

For those who like fish, there is Pescara. They will be offering a dinner for $165 for our that includes sea salt crusted prime rib or fresh seafood cioppino, king crab stuffing, arugula and butternut squash salad, caramelized heirloom carrots, roasted golden and red beets, smoked Gouda hash browns, dinner rolls and whipped butter, and praline cake with pumpkin Anglaise. Four crab cakes can be added for $35. Orders must be made by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2020 by calling 507-280-6900. You can reserve your pick-up time.

There are a whole lot more great restaurants offering Thanksgiving meals. You can find more at downtownrochester.com and rochestermom.com.

We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
